Dtv Or DirecTv - Can You Still Choose?

It's been well publicized that February 2009 will be the cut-off date of terrestrial broadcast. For months we have been hearing that viewers must make a decision whether to subscribe to satellite Tv, cable Tv, Internet Tv or order a Dtv tuner. A digital Tv tuner doesn't contribute any extra channels but does broadcast digital article and also provides sharper pictures and more garage viewing. Dtv will also free up more channels for wireless Internet and social access. all seemed to be going along according to plan. Then Obama took power! Just kidding, it wasn't as a matter of fact Obama's fault. What happened was that the government's consumer-help program set up to help facilitate the digital crossover ran out of money.

The United States branch responsible for Dtv made .6 billion dollars after auctioning existing analog Tv airwaves to telecommunications companies. However, Congress only gave less than two billion dollars towards an educational program designed to forewarn population of the needed convert as well as how to bring their Tv up to date. Furthermore, they also ran out of coupons that would have made the digital converter box free or just a few dollars for the average customer.

Now sources are saying that nearly eight million population whether don't know about the convert or are helpless to do whatever about the Tv blackout, since they have no way of finding coupons. Is it as a matter of fact worth spending 0 on a digital tuner that promises one or two further channels also the status quo? This situation is already getting stressful and President Barack Obama is now request for a extension of the digital Tv transition-at least until the government can get back on the ball and help consumers with the change.

The name of the branch that ran out of money is the National Telecommunications and data Administration. They currently have a waiting list of over one million households, and many of the coupons out there have already expired. What's the big deal about postponement? Angry bidders who won possession to those free channels will not take the news lightly (and this whole program was government-mandated from the start) and the worse case scenario is that Tv ratings drop considerably, which could bring someone else Hollywood epidemic.

Aren't you glad you have the choice of DirecTv? Don't take the government's word for it that a extension will fix everything. When the rest of the world goes dark, you will still have your Csis, your Sesame Streets, your Nfl Super Bowls and your SpongeBobs. You will not be exposed to the anguish of no more nightly news updates from Brian Williams, nor will you miss Jay Leno's promotion (or demotion, any way you look at it) inheriting the 10:00 Pm time slot. Now while the rest of the world is cracking up over the loss of Desperate Housewives you will be sitting conveniently on your coach surfing with your digitally-enhanced remote, flipping back and forth in the middle of Nfl Cheerleader Playoffs and Playboy's Sex Court. The last laugh is on all of them! Happy New Year, DirecTv subscribers!
